One of those that I've been thinking about is journaling... well more appropriately, blogging about some thoughts and random musings. Maybe through my jumbled thoughts someone else will experience a wonderful means of grace. Maybe it will create some order in my brain... who knows?Michaelhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13447699854304103957noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1363979087001837069.post-25756123328081484002009-04-16T18:29:00.000-07:002009-04-16T18:37:50.839-07:00

Michaelhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13447699854304103957noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1363979087001837069.post-41880315462058872832009-04-16T18:04:00.000-07:002009-04-16T18:22:58.105-07:00Lorelei is here!Hey guess what! Lorelei Donovan came in weighing 8 lbs, 14. oz. on Thursday, April 9 about 2:03 in the afternoon. Everyone is doing great, and we're excited to have a new little baby girl to grow with us on our journey.
Lorelei literally means "mumuring rock", and though it was used as the name of a siren who would sing to lure sailors to their deaths, I prefer to think of it from a Biblical standpoint of Luke 19:40. Jesus is in the week before his crucifixion and ressurrection and the disciples and followers are cheering him saying "Blessed is the King!" Some Pharisees try to get Jesus to make them be quiet, and Jesus responds, "I tell you, if they keep quiet, the stones will cry out." You tell them Jesus. To God be the Glory, and thanks for the many blessings in my daughter, our own little murmuring rock.Michaelhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13447699854304103957noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1363979087001837069.post-89669922113242285072009-02-03T13:15:00.000-08:002009-02-03T13:18:49.630-08:00BlogaliciousOh geez... maybe I wasn't cut out for blogging...what has it been, a month? I don't know if there is any more daunting a task than picking out a name for a child. Our first son Matthew was originally going to be named Boyce after my late uncle, but thanks to Flavor Flav (Yeahhhhhh Boyyyyyzzzz!) it was changed. Now we have to name a daughter. This is difficult because what you name a child is central to their earliest sense of identity. If you don't get it right it could affect you and your child for a lifetime. The naming of a child for me has to have some inspiration behind it... it has to feel right. The Sages say that naming a baby is a statement of her character, her specialness, and her path in life. For at the beginning of life we give a name, and at the end of life a "good name" is all we take with us.Michaelhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13447699854304103957noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1363979087001837069.post-82095552793057796272008-11-12T19:14:00.000-08:002008-11-12T19:32:22.908-08:00a journey begins...This is officially my first entry to my blog. I figured if everyone else could impart their wisdom on the rest of the world, then I needed to throw in my two cents. I will relay the important and not so important thoughts that cross my mind, so that those that read this will have confirmation that I am officially losing my marbles. Maybe in some kind of weird sense this will be therapeutic, or maybe not... who knows?
So first... why "Random Church"? When I was in high school we had a talent show at my church to fundraise for our mission trip. Three of us, along with our Youth Minister formed a "band" to play one song at the dinner... the band- you guessed it - was dubbed "Random Church" by yours truly. But in thinking on that now, I look at the world we live in as a church of God. Yahweh God, not a church of little g god. Regardless of where we are in this spiritual journey that we call life, we are to keep God the center of all we do. So therefore, whether we are in line at the grocery store, or at work, or in our cars on a highway, we are in church. There is a hymn that says- I am the church! You are the church! We are the church together. The church is not a building, the church is not a steeple, the church is not a resting place;the church is a people! So as we interact with the different people in our daily lives, we are all in someways attending a "random church".
Michaelhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13447699854304103957noreply@blogger.com1
